Children have their own unique way of communicating and often with the help of Expressive Arts or Play Therapy their ability to express themselves can be further enhanced. Mostly, parents bring their children into therapy and introduce them to the therapist and therapeutic environment. Meeting children where they are at, is an important step in therapy. It's important to validate them for who they are as this can really help to build trust and security.
Parents often spend most of their waking hours and sometimes sleeping hours with their children. Therapy can offer a way of seeing parenting through a different perspective. Often parents need more rest, sleep and support with child-rearing and therapy can also offer strong support in this respect.
My warm, intuitive style supports children and families to feel safe and welcome in my presence. This work involves a good amount of collaborative and family therapy with parents or care-givers. When parents contribute to the therapeutic relationship, they often have a greater capacity to remember the learnings and help their children to integrate the work.
